EU In The Process of Globalization
This course surveys the
development of the EU. ‘Europe’ today is a set of mechanisms of co-operation
and integration responding collectively to important challenges faced by the
West in politico-economic since the end of the Second World War. In brief,
national governance in a global environment. This course is divided in three
parts. The first analyses the impact of World War II and the period of post-war
reconstruction (1945-51) primarily from eastern and western European
perspectives; while the second part will focus on the nature and causes of the
European golden age (1951-68) specifically economic, political and social
perspectives; whereas the third part discusses the problems of the current
‘European model’—built around the European Union—arguably, the failed
adaptation to the exhaustion of the ‘reconstruction model’ (1969-2015).
