Course objectives:

By the end of the course, students should:

·      Be able to explain the importance of different institutional arrangements in modern democracies;

·      Demonstrate a familiarity with the political systems of a selection of West European countries;

·      Be able to present comparisons between political systems in Western Europe;

·      Be able to present, orally and in writing, arguments supported by examples and illustrations from a number of country case studies.
